Natural Dyes
This embroidery kit contains naturally-dyed wool embroidery floss. Natural dyes are not as light-fast or enduring as synthetic petroleum or coal-based dyes, which means on the one hand that they’re not poisoning the earth… but on the other hand, they are more prone to fading, especially if you display your piece in bright sunlight. UV protective glass can help, if you frame your piece, but it’s also important to remember that hey, you made this one. You can also make another if the colors one day fade! Change comes for us all, even this little woolen patch.
If you sew your patch to a garment, please keep in mind that you’ve now turned that garment into something hand-wash only. It’ll need delicate care to not continue to felt once it’s sewn onto a garment you’re washing frequently. Please do NOT use an enzyme-based cleaner, it will degrade the wool over time!
Shipping Information
We ship 2-3 days a week. We’re a small business and by limiting our shipping days it gives us more time to dig out barberry and multiflora rose.
We ship USPS from our farm in Sullivan County, New York, so if you’re nearby, you’ll get it quick, and if you’re far, hopefully it’ll still be there in 5-7 days. You’ll receive a shipping confirmation to the email you provided at checkout within about 48 hours of your purchase.
You’re responsible for giving us the right address, so unfortunately if you’ve entered the wrong address and it’s returned to us, you’ll need to pay to have the item re-shipped. If you discover the error right away, please reach out and if it hasn’t already shipped we’ll try to catch it!
If a shipment is marked delivered and it’s missing, please start by reaching out to the post office directly. Since I didn’t personally deliver it to you, I don’t have any bonus information that you don’t have!
Returns and Exchanges
Sorry to report that I’m not accepting returns at this time! Just like the invasive species these kits are inspired by… once you get it, you’re STUCK with it!
That said, mistakes happen! So if you’ve ordered one and you’re not into the plant after all, I will accept exchanges of unopened kits, but you’ll need to pay to ship it back. Thanks for understanding- I’m a small business and I’ve probably already spent your money on tractor fuel trying to pull out more barberry.
Speaking of mistakes…
If you open your kit and find *I’ve* made a mistake, like you’re missing a color of floss or another key component, please do not hesitate to reach out at hello@flaxfiberfarm.com and we’ll send you what you need free of charge with our deepest apologies.
Oops! I lost my pattern book, needle, thread etc etc.
Well, I can’t help you with everything, but I CAN send you replacements, just please let me know and we’ll try to make it work! Email hello@flaxfiberfarm.com and we’ll try to sort you out.
